What's the role?

This role is crucial to SMS as it grows our metering portfolio and brings in the recurring rental required to achieve business a target. The Operation Support Assistant will be responsible for dealing with both inbound and outbound customer appointment calls to ensure meter bookings are successfully scheduled.

The role requires a key relationship with SMS field engineers to enable an organised and successful approach to day-to-day asset management of our meters installed.
 

Working Hours:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Based at our Doncaster Office

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Deal with both inbound and outbound customer appointment calls in accordance with supplier booking guidelines. Booking meter exchange appointments directly with end consumer and suppliers if called upon and required.
  • Work report daily/weekly to ensure all jobs and work streams are correct.
  • Arrange access as appropriate (primarily over the telephone) to ensure engineer can complete scheduled jobs.
  • Ensure that all jobs are claimed by the morning and the job is a ‘good’ job and ready for the engineer and customer.
  • Identify any issues and raise to Metering Manager.
  • Maintain work management database and any other relevant systems.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure optimum service delivery.
  • Handling of ad-hoc queries from engineers, customers, Suppliers, and other teams on commissioning issues and assets on site.
  • Maximize customer appointments for SMS.
  • Plan site visits & plan the work for SMS field engineers, including grouping jobs in the most efficient way possible and arranging access ahead of their visit.
  • To provide constant support to SMS’s field engineers and any sub-contractors, including directions when necessary, and schedule amendments in order to maximize meter installs and keep cancelled jobs to a minimum.

 

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • GCSE or Equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail and reliability.
  • Computer Literate, I.T skills, experience with excel/word/ CRM.
  • Keen attention to detail, working accurately under pressure.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in a similar engineer/ logistics role with good geographical knowledge.
  • Excellent Customer Service experience.
